Extra-Curricular Activities in School

Each student from class IV onwards is allotted one of the houses. Each house is headed by a girl and boy house captain. A member of the staff assisted by several other teachers (tutors) acts as the House Warden. Points are awarded to the students throughout the year for extracurricular activities through Inter-House competitions in sports, dramatics, debates, quizzes, art, and music and prizes/trophies are awarded accordingly. At the end of the year, the house gaining the highest points is awarded the championship trophy.

This system of houses gives opportunities to students to perform in some of the other extra-curricular activities. Every week there is some of the other activity to be performed by students, for that they have to volunteer and participate. At times, inter-house competition helps students to learn competitive skills and boosts confidence when they participate. This brings a change in student’s life from day to daily study schedule and also a sense of interaction boosts. Extracurricular activities keep students active and a little distracted from their everyday schedules.

Co-curricular activities are important just as academics. When a student is made to do academics and co-curricular activities then only a well-rounded development of the student is done. Students have lots of activities to choose from. Cultural activities, sports activities, competitions, house on duties and lot more. Some students are even interested in more than one activity and they do participate in both keeping in mind their academics.
