Delhi Public School, Bathinda inaugurated the two days Model United Nations Conference-22 in which 155 students from various reputed schools in the region participated. Six committees debated, and deliberated on different agendas:
The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) –
Agenda – Ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns through the reduction of ocean waste generation and territory invasion (through the MARPOL convention)
United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)
Agenda – Discussing abortion legalization with emphasis on Article 6
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)
Agenda- Aiming towards disarmament measures (WMD and SLAW) with the critical focus on international security
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC)
Agenda- Discussing the post-conflict stabilization taking into account the Russia-Ukraine conflict
All India Political Party Meet (AIPPM)
Agenda- Discussion on the impact of National Logistics Policy (NPL) on the country
International Press (IP)
Agenda- Photography and Journalism
The chief guest at the opening ceremony was S. Jagroop Singh Gill, MLA, Bathinda (Urban) enthused the delegates through his insightful experience of politics.
The Executive Board comprised of experienced students from professional colleges of the country with wide experience thoroughly engages the delegates in the proceeding of the committees. Adding a lot of fun, excitement, and deliberating discussion on the delicate issues of the agenda.
Two days of deliberation convinced into the passing of the resolution. The best delegates Harpratap Singh Gill, Anantbir, Yashkanwarvir Singh, and Hargun Kaur. Amolika Kalra was adjudged the best journalist and Eknoor Kaur.
The principal appreciated the active participation of the delegates and thanked the principals of participating schools for sending the delegation. Such events improve communication, research, and critical thinking skills, and teach students diplomacy and decision-making skills.
