UDHBHAV – ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS (VI-IX & XI)
Delhi Public School Bathinda celebrated its grand annual function, ‘Udbhav: Life’s Grand Theatre,’ on November 9, 2024. During the event, students from classes 6 to 9 and 11 took the stage to showcase their talents, embracing the theme ‘The Seven Stages of Life,’ inspired by Shakespeare’s timeless words: ‘All the world’s a stage.
The event was graced by Prof. Dr. Sandeep Kansal, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honor included Sh. Suresh Hans, former Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya and an eminent writer, and Sh. Preet Brar, President of the Bathinda Cycle Group, Sh. Jallandhar Singh MC Goniana, and Sh. Rakesh Kumar, Ex MC Goniana.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome extended to the parents by Sr. Mistress Mrs. Paramjeet Kingra. The Annual Report was presented by Head Boy Samar Bansal and Head Girl Palak, who highlighted the institution’s achievements and progress over the past year. The Principal, Mr. J.K. Saini, concluded the report by sharing the school’s growth, additions to its infrastructure and facilities, and how the school provides a plethora of opportunities to sharpen the skills and holistic development of students
Students presented a theme-oriented variety program, beginning with a prayer by the school choir. The program then reached its climax with a variety of dance performances and skits. The key highlight of the dances and acts focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
In his speech, the Chief Guest congratulated the school staff, students, and parents for putting up a grand show. He also stressed the significance of student participation in co-curricular and cultural activities, highlighting how the skills learned through such participation help in building a strong character and equip students with the abilities needed to lead a fulfilling life
The function concluded with an electrifying Bhangra performance, filling the air with energy and pride, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories of a day well-celebrated.
UDHBHAV – ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS (III-V)
The Delhi Public School Bathinda celebrated its annual day on November 9, 2024 for the Primary Wing, in which students of classes III to V participated with great enthusiasm and fervour.
The programme began with a welcome speech by Sukhmandeep Singh and Mehr K Sidhu, the Junior school’s head boy and head girl, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting by the Chief Guest, Mr. Pushap Kumar, Deputy General Manager, NFL Bathinda and principals of various Play way schools. The Chief Guest, in his address, praised the school’s commitment to excellence and encouraged the students to strive for greater heights.
The students then took centre stage, showcasing their talents in music, dance, drama, and cultural events. The highlights of the evening included a mesmerizing dance performance by the school’s dance troupe, a thought-provoking play on social issues, and a musical rendition by the school’s choir. Two of the budding authors Taarak Gautam and Mehr K Sidhu were specially honoured by the Chief Guest by releasing their first book.
The annual report of the school was presented by the Principal, Mr. Jatinder Kumar Saini along with his team of young reporters, who highlighted the school’s achievements in academics, sports, and extracurricular activities. The school’s achievements in inter-school competitions and national-level exams were also lauded.
In her vote of thanks, Dr. Anusandeep Kaur, the school’s Co-ordinator, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, guest of honour, parents, and staff for their support.
The event concluded with a spectacular “Bhangra” performance by the group of 92 young boys and girls of classes III to V, filling the air with energy and pride, leaving everyone with unforgettable memories of a day well-celebrated.
GRAND INAUGURATION OF NEW BLOCK
During the welcome address, the Principal highlighted the significance of supporting and joyful learning opportunities for the children of foundation classes. This building has been aesthetically designed with wide range of facilities best suited for this age group. The school put up a short variety programme showcasing some of the talents of students in Yoga, Music and Dance.
The Chief Guest, Mr .Rahul Singh congratulated the school management and applauded the efforts put in by the school imparting quality education to the children of the area.
TEACHER WORKSHOP
TRIP TO SCIENCE CITY
Delhi Public School, Bathinda organized a one-day trip to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala for students from classes 6th to 10th, totaling 573 participants in the first week of May 2024.
This educational excursion provided students with a valuable experience, allowing them to engage in hands-on learning, exploration, and inspiration. Beyond enriching their grasp of scientific concepts, students honed critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. These trips are instrumental in complementing classroom education, nurturing a lasting passion for science and technology among students.
INTER-HOUSE BASKETBALL COMPETITION
Delhi Public School, Bathinda is committed to fostering holistic development in its students, seizing every opportunity that comes in its way. Recently, the school organized an INTER-HOUSE BASKETBALL Tournament on May 2, 2024, for boys (Category 9-12) and on May 3, 2024, for girls (Category 9-12). The participants showcased outstanding skills during the matches.
The atmosphere was lively and spirited, with enthusiastic spectators cheering for their houses and enjoying the competitive spirit among friends. The grounds echoed with cheers, creating an electric ambiance. Finally, the most anticipated moment arrived—the announcement of the results, reflecting the school’s belief in the value of participation over mere victory and the true essence of sportsmanship.
The event exemplified the school’s dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals and celebrating the spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie among its students.
AFS REGIONAL MEET 2024
Students of DPS Bathinda Akhilesh Sharma and Samar Bansal, grade XII from DPS Bathinda accompanied by AFS Coordinator Mr. Sachin Gopal Singla and the Principal Mr. J. K. Saini attended the Annual AFS North India Regional Meet held at Selaqui International School, Dehradun, from April 20 to 21, 2024, The theme of conference was “Inclusion” to celebrate AFS ideals of intercultural learning, respect, and empathy. Esteemed figures such as Mr. Sanjeev Chopra, retired IAS Officer of 1985 batch (Chief Guest), Dr. Sumer Bahadur Singh (educationist and ex-Principal of Dely College Indore), Dr. Jagpreet Singh (Headmaster- The DOON School, Dehradun), Mr. Satyam Sahai, and AFS National Director, Ms. Diya Badgel, graced the occasion. This gathering, attended by directors, principals, educators, and students from around 32 prestigious schools, aimed to foster global citizenship and community service. Noteworthy highlights of the event included discussions on promoting gender equality and empowering women in today’s society.
The opening ceremony featured captivating musical and dance performances, setting the stage for insightful discussions. The Chief Guest Mr. Sanjeev Chopra highlighted the importance of inclusion in contemporary society.
The event included multiple enlightening sessions for the students focused on the theme ‘Inclusion’, Students were further enlightened by AFS alumni, who shared insights on problem-solving at the grassroots level. The school organized an awareness campaign on the sensitive but crucial issue of understanding menstrual hygiene by the participants. The boys were included in the discussion and played an active role in taking responsibility and being sensitized toward their role in society. Students took up an awareness project and they visited a nearby village, Kaichiwala, where they interacted with rural women and educated them through an interactive talk on ‘Masik Dharm Swachhta’ offering attendees a platform to reflect and share their enriching experiences.
WORKSHOP : IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
Delhi Public School, Bathinda organized a workshop on April 30, 2024, and May 2, 2024, presented by Ms. Jaskirat Kaur, the school counselor, on the topic “In Pursuit of Happiness” for classes 9th and 10th. The presentation aimed to explore the essence of happiness and equip students with tools to achieve a fulfilling life. The students actively engaged in the session, sharing their life experiences and insights on happiness. Their enthusiastic participation created a vibrant atmosphere, inspiring their peers to strive for success and contentment. The exchange of personal stories fostered empathy and understanding among classmates, enriching the learning experience.
During the presentation, Ms. Kaur introduced various concepts related to happiness. A video presentation captivated the audience, offering visual reinforcement of key ideas. Additionally, students were introduced to meditation as a powerful tool for cultivating inner peace and joy. Practical guidance on implementing meditation, especially before exams, was provided, emphasizing its transformative potential in enhancing overall well-being.
An engaging activity involving balloons was conducted to illustrate the distinction between pleasure derived from rewards and the lasting happiness cultivated through meditation. This hands-on experience facilitated a deeper understanding of the subject matter, encouraging critical thinking and reflection among the students. The activity culminated in the recognition of a winning team, fostering a spirit of healthy competition while reinforcing the importance of mindfulness in daily life.
Thus, the session underscored the school’s commitment to holistic education, prioritizing not only academic success but also the emotional well-being and personal growth of the students.
INTER-HOUSE ENGLISH DEBATE COMPETITION
Debate holds a pivotal role in school, fostering critical thinking, honing communication skills, building confidence, boosting research capabilities and cultivating leadership qualities. It is an integral component of education, empowering students to excel academically, grow personally, and actively engage in society. To stimulate the growth, Delhi Public School, Bathinda organized an Inter-House Debate Competition on April 26th, 2024, for students of grades 9-12. The first round tackled the topic “Social Media has Improved Communication,” with students debating for and against the motion from each house. The subsequent round focused on “18 is the Appropriate Age for Individuals to Exercise their Right to Vote”. Each round featured a rigorous question-and-answer session as well, with teams allotted three minutes to perform and have a winning edge. Ultimately, CHENAB House claimed the top spot in the competition, followed by RAVI and YAMUNA House.
INTER-HOUSE PUNJABI DEBATE COMPETITION
The Inter-House Punjabi Debate Competition at Delhi Public School, Bathinda took place on April 26, 2024, uniting students from grades IX to XII to engage in a spirited debate on the theme “Influencer – ਇੱਕ ਵਧੀਆ ਰੋਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਾਧਨ” highlighting the influence of leaders in creating employment opportunities. Each house was represented by two participants, who showcased impressive linguistic and critical thinking skills during the event. Ganga House emerged as the victor after thorough evaluation considering content, delivery, confidence and pronunciation, followed by Sutlej House in second place, while Chenab and Yamuna Houses jointly secured third position. This competition greatly enhanced the confidence and articulate expression of all participants.
INTER-HOUSE DECLAMATION COMPETITION
DPS Bathinda resonated with the enthusiasm of Inter-House Declamation Competition for the students of grade VI-VIII on 25th April, 2024. Each house brought forth articulate speakers to speak about critical topics. The grade 6 students delved into the importance of Health & Wellness, highlighting the significance of physical and mental balance. Moving on, the grade 7 emphasized the delicate art of Balancing Screen Time & Physical Activity, urging peers to find equilibrium in today’s digital age. The culmination came with a thought-provoking exploration of Ethics and Responsibility in the Online World by grade 8 students, echoing the necessity of integrity in virtual spaces.
The speeches were meticulously rated based on Content Relevance, Clarity & Organization, Engagement & Delivery, and Persuasiveness & Impact. As the competition unfolded, it became clear that beyond mere persuasiveness, these speeches sparked deep reflections on contemporary challenges and responsibilities.
INTER-HOUSE SPELL BEE COMPETITION
The significance of spelling lies in its contribution to reading comprehension, solidifying the link between sounds and letters. Recently, Delhi Public School, Bathinda held an Inter-House Spell Bee Competition for students in grades IV-V on April 25, 2024. This engaging event featured diverse challenges like dictation, synonym identification, letter fill-ins, unscrambling words, and spotting misspellings in provided options.
The students, thoroughly prepared, confidently tackled the competition, enhancing their spelling prowess, enriching their vocabulary, grasping key concepts, and refining their English proficiency. Their enthusiastic participation was universally praised, fostering a sense of accomplishment among all involved.
Such competitions not only bolster student confidence but also inspire them to pursue similar challenges at higher levels.
INTER HOUSE COLLAGE MAKING COMPETITION
Collage is a popular form of art that reflects our world and engages children’s senses while helping them develop important skills. As children grow, art like collage continues to support their brain development, self-esteem, and creativity.
Delhi Public School, Bathinda recently organized an Inter-House Collage Making Competition for Grade IV and V students on April 24, 2024. The theme celebrated the diverse cultures of the world, with students using digital platforms to showcase elements like art, music, dance, traditions, and cuisine. This activity promoted unity and understanding within the school community as children explored and appreciated different cultures with enthusiasm.
INTER HOUSE BADMINTON COMPETITION
Delhi Public School, Bathinda, recently organized an Inter-House Badminton Competition on April 19, 2024, showcasing the diverse sporting talent within the school. Students from all the houses participated enthusiastically in the competition. Beyond the thrill of competition, it held immense importance in promoting physical fitness, mental agility, and social interaction among players. It offered a holistic approach to well-being, cognitive sharpness, stress relief, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The enduring value of badminton is staying active and healthy, making it an essential component of students’ overall development.
BAISAKHI CELEBRATION
Baisakhi marks the Sikh New Year, hence is a significant day in the Indian calendar. It is one of the most popular and important festivals celebrated in Punjab and various other parts of India. It is a vibrant harvest festival, and this auspicious day is important to the farmers as they offer thanks to the Almighty and pray for good crops in the near future. The spirit of Baisakhi was captured and shared with fellow students, by the students of Class IV-B as they conducted the Special Assembly on Thursday, 11th April, 2024.
FIRE SAFETY WORKSHOP
On April 9, 2024, Delhi Public School Bathinda organized a Fire Safety workshop during the school assembly, focusing on fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and safety measures. The workshop featured presentations on common fire hazards, evacuation protocols, and practical demonstrations of fire extinguisher usage. Students and staff were educated on the importance of proactive fire safety measures and individual responsibility in maintaining a safe environment. The seminar provided valuable knowledge and skills to effectively respond to fire emergencies, ensuring the safety of all occupants within the school premises.
ORIENTATION CEREMONY
Delhi Public School, Bathinda hosted a vibrant orientation programme for the parents of newly admitted students, aimed at providing insights into the school’s ethos, curriculum and facilities.
